Ingredients: small sized karelas 250g. large onions, sliced fine 2 tamarind pulp 1/2 cup cummin powder 1 tbsp. ginger paste 1 tbsp. garlic paste 1 tbsp. turmeric powder 1 tsp. chilli powder 1 tsp. mustard oil 50ml. salt to taste Method 1.Slit the karelas lengthwise in the centre, so as to keep them whole. 2. Scoop out a little centre portion of the karelas without letting them break into two pieces. Mix ginger paste, garlic paste, salt and cummin powder well. 3. Stuff the karelas with this mixture and gently press them to close the opening. 4. Heat oil in a pan and fry onion till light brown. 5. Add turmeric powder and stir well. 6.Place the karelas carefully into the oil and cook on a low heat till done. 7. Add tamarind pulp, salt and chilli powder. Cook for a few minutes more till the gravy is thick. 8. Serve with rice. |
