Pulao may mean different things in different regions of India. It is usually cooked with rice as the main ingredient and then seasoned with peas, potatoes, cauliflower, mutton, or chicken. Usually served on special occasions and weddings; very high in food energy and fat. Biryani another variation of Pulao is an Indian and Pakistani dish very similar to pilav. It is made from basmati or aromatic rice.
